Take advantage of free, over-the-air HD Radio broadcasts with the SoundWorks Radio 820HD. Its built-in HD Radio tuner gives you access to the digital programming many stations are broadcasting along with their regular analog signals. Because HD Radio signals are digital, you'll hear a marked difference in audio quality — FM approaches CD-quality sound, while AM approaches current FM sound.
The 820HD pulls in both analog and digital AM and FM signals, including HD Radio "multicasts." While most stations use HD Radio technology to simulcast a digital version of their regular programming, some take advantage of its capability to also broadcast one or more additional digital-only channels. Digital signals can even include text, such as song titles, sports scores and other information, which the 820HD shows on its large, easy-to-read front-panel display.
